The Pellowski Collection of Cloth Books

The Pellowski Collection of Cloth Books
Collected by Anne Pellowski, donated by Junko Yokota

Anne Pellowski (b. 1933), librarian, author of children's and young people's books and above all a storyteller, organized workshops for the promotion of reading and literature at the New York Public Library, for UNICEF and UNESCO. In the course of her active professional life, she assembled an impressive collection of about 165 cloth books for children. Among them are both handmade and commercially produced children's cloth books, as well as numerous unique pieces that were created in Anne Pellowski's workshops together with children.

Junko Yokota acquired this collection and generously donated it to the International Youth Library Foundation.

The collection is not yet accessible, but will be catalogued in the medium term.
