Michael Ende Exhibition
Since 1998, the top floor above the lending library houses the Michael Ende Museum. Displaying this renowned author’s entire work, as well as a number of personal belongings and his extensive private library, the museum invites visitors to explore Michael Ende’s life and work and meet all the characters from his books such as Tranquilla Trampeltreu (the tenacious/persevering tortoise), Bastian Bux (from “The Neverending Story”), Jim Knopf (Jim Button), and Momo.
In addition to Ende’s popular books (30 titles translated into more than 40 languages), the exhibition also displays typescripts, letters, drawings, photographs and illustrations for Ende’s picture book texts by well-known artists.
